GLIMMERS
SYNOPSIS - “GLIMMERS” is a short story about two friends, Navid and Luci. Navid, a 25-year-old carpenter living in the city, is mostly content with his life. He gets by, he’s stable, but he can’t shake the occasional “what if.” What would things look like if he had made different choices? The multiverse is a complicated idea, but a familiar one; everyone wonders what their life might’ve been in another version of reality. In this universe of branching paths, Navid is the constant, while everything around him shifts. Every door he opens leads to a new world where he still exists, but in a different form, like an astronaut, a DJ, or even a soldier.
One evening, Luci invites herself over and finds Navid napping on his couch. She enters loudly, waking him a little, but still taps his head to bother him. He doesn't budge. Eventually, while he sleeps, she steps out onto the balcony to wait. When Navid finally joins her, they take in the glowing city lights and the hum of the street below. And it’s from this quiet moment, two friends sharing a balcony view, that their journey begins, suddenly pulled into the many lives Navid could have lived.
